Mohamed Salah is in the final year of his contract at Liverpool and the Reds could face a battle to keep him beyond the end of the season.

Salah has scored 217 goals in 358 games for Liverpool since arriving from Roma in 2017. Only Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, Gordon Hodgson and Billy Liddell have scored more goals than him in the Merseyside club’s 132-year history.

If Salah does not sign a new deal at Anfield then he will be able to leave on a free transfer next summer.

Salah has been linked with interest from teams in Saudi Arabia but, according to The Sun, he is not interested in joining Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Co in the Arab state just yet.

The Sun also reports that Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race for Salah’s signature and that the French champions are willing to offer him a three-year deal.

If Salah was to join PSG for three years starting next summer then he would be committing to stay in Paris until June 2028 – the same month as his 36th birthday.

PSG are a little short on star power since Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe all departed the Parc des Princes in recent years.

Despite those high-profile exits, PSG find themselves top of the Ligue 1 table after taking 16 points from their first six games of the season.

European success is PSG’s greatest aim though.

They have never won Europe’s biggest prize, despite reaching three semi-finals and one final in their past five campaigns.

Salah won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2019 when he scored the opening goal in a 2-0 win over Tottenham in the final.

Opening up on his future after the 3-0 win over Manchester United in September, Salah said: ‘I was coming to the game and I said, “look, it could be the last time (at Old Trafford)”.

‘Nobody from the club has talked to me yet about contracts. It’s not up to me, it’s up to the club but we will see.

‘As you know, it’s my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it. I don’t want to think about it (the contract). I feel I’m free to play football and we’ll see what’s going to happen next year.’
