Eva Longoria, 49, shares the cute nickname she and Meryl Streep, 75, have for each other… after revealing they are distant cousins

Eva Longoria has shared that she and Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, 75, have cute nicknames for each other.

It’s ‘cousin.’

That is because the Desperate Housewives star, 49, and the Devil Wears Prada actress really are distant cousins.

‘Meryl and I are cousins. We both did the Dr. Gates DNA show and Meryl and I shared a relative,’ she said in an interview with Extra.

‘Years later, I saw her at an event and my friend’s like, “Go tell her you’re cousins.” I’m like, “No, I’m not telling Meryl we’re cousins.”‘

She continued: ‘Then I hear, “Cousin!” and I turned around and it’s Meryl.’

Eva Longoria has shared that she and Academy Award winner Meryl Streep , 75, have cute nicknames for each other. It’s ‘cousin.’ That is because the Desperate Housewives star, 49, and the Devil Wears Prada actress really are distant cousins

The two women worked together on season four of Only Murders in the Building, an experience the Flamin’ Hot director called ‘really really fun.’

Eva also said that they referred to each other as cousin on set, which confused the rest of the cast and crew.

‘We actually call each other cousin,’ Longoria said.

‘We’ll say, “How are you, cousin?” and “I’m good, cousin.”‘

In the first Zoom table read for Only Murders, Streep introduced Longoria as her cousin.

‘She tells the story and everyone’s so confused, because I’m the most Latina person in the industry and she’s Meryl Streep,’ Longoria recalled.

Eva said the team was like family, adding: ‘We talked a lot about democracy and politics,’ Longoria said.

‘But when you have leaders like Steve Martin and Martin Short, you’re never not laughing. Watching them make a lunch order is a show in itself.

‘It’s a constant roast about a sandwich, a 30-minute comedy about mustard,’ she explained.

Recently, Longoria said Hollywood is not a ‘progressive industry’ and there is no ‘gender equity’ between men and women.

Speaking to Grazia magazine, she said: ‘You know, people think Hollywood is a liberal, progressive industry, but it’s not. It would be great to have gender equity in all positions, we just don’t.

‘We have fewer female directors and fewer Latinos in front of the camera than we did a couple of years ago,’ she said.

‘So we’re actually going in the wrong direction, even though the perception is that we’re doing so great.’
