Evarmor Valley: Why Aussies are travelling to this ‘luxurious’ glamping destination

Australians eager to escape the fast-paced city life and enjoy a weekend getaway are heading to a ‘luxurious’ glamping destination just outside of Sydney – and it’s easy to see why.

Evamor Valley in Mudgee, in the central west of New South Wales, offers premium hideaways where guests can stitch off, unwind and reconnect with nature.

The widespread 80-acre farm property spans alongside the gorgeous Cudgegong River and is only a six minute drive from the town centre filled with pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops.

Charmaine, 49, and tradie husband Chad Hurrell, 50, opened the accommodation in November 2021 after building three glamping tents themselves and are in the process of developing three more.

Other activities nearby include horse riding, canoeing, cycling, hiking and wine tasting.

Each tent can comfortably fit two people, is equipped with air conditioning so guests are comfortable during summer, a Nespresso coffee marker, toaster, and kettle.

There’s no Wi-Fi, however, to encourage guests to explore the outdoors and neighbouring businesses.

Surrounded by some of Mudgee’s finest wineries, breweries, and restaurants, Evamor Valley is an ideal location for guests visiting from the city to reconnect with their partner or loved ones.

‘The idea of Evamor came about after many evening walks around our property (generally with a rose in hand) and discussions with family and friends about sharing our beautiful property,’ Charmaine told FEMAIL.

‘We wanted to create a space for people who want to get away and escape their everyday lives, everyday seems so fast past. This is a place they can come and relax with no pressure, but, (there’s always a but) feel comfortable and connect with our beautiful property.

‘We wanted people to stop and breathe and realise how beautiful our country is.’

The couple bought the Tinja Lane property in 2016 and at the time it was a complete ‘blank canvas’ and required ‘a lot of work’ to transform the giant outdoor space into what guests see today.

The name ‘Evamor’ was also inspired by Charmaine and Chad’s two daughters – Eva, 16, and Morgan, 20.

Evamor Valley also received a bronze award in the 2022 NSW Tourism Awards in the ‘New Tourism Business’ category, which the founders were pleased with.

During the visit, guests have the freedom to explore the property and are encouraged to wander down the walking trail to the river. On the walk guests will pass the ‘rusty ruins’ from Mudgee’s early settlers.

‘The Cox family (the first family to settle in Mudgee) settled across the river in 1822, farming the region’s first beef cattle,’ the description reads.

‘The Evamor property is home to the remnants of the family’s cattle operations, including the original metal shedding, used to process beef, along with the original water well, which was bricked-up using bricks built by Sydney convicts’.
