Ewan McGregor and his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead made a rare TV appearance together on Thursday ahead of their upcoming series A Gentleman In Moscow. 

Speaking to Ross King on ITV’s Lorraine, the couple, who met in 2017 on the set of comedy crime drama Fargo, looked as loved-up as ever. 

Ewan, 52, loving placed a hand on Mary’s knee as they held hands while discussing their new Netflix drama. 

The actor stars as lead character Count Alexander Rostov while Mary, 39, will feature as his love interest, Anna Urbanova. 

A Gentleman In Moscow, tells the story of a Russian aristocrat who is spared from death and placed on house arrest while the Bolshevik Revolution plays out before him.

Discussing working together Ewan said: ‘We didn’t know each other very well on Fargo but we click really well as actors.’ 

The actor recently revealed he is scaling back his acting career to spend more time at home with his new wife and son.

Ewan said he is ‘very much in love’ with Mary and their two-year-old son Laurie and doesn’t want to spend long periods of time away from them.

He married Mary in April 2022 in a low-key ceremony near their home in Los Angeles. The couple have been together since 2017 after meeting on the set of TV comedy crime drama Fargo.

McGregor also has four daughters with ex-wife Eve Mavrakis. They split up in 2017 after 22 years of marriage and their divorce was finalised in August 2020.

Ewan has returned to live in Scotland after splashing out more than £2 million on a mansion near his home town.

The actor has purchased an 18th century country retreat in Perthshire set in more than 18 acres of land and gardens. The property is in the Carse of Gowrie and just a 35 minute drive from Crieff where McGregor grew up.

The Star Wars and Trainspotting star has been spotted regularly in the area in recent weeks and it is understood he will now split his time between Scotland and LA.

Property records show Ewan bought the Category C-listed 10 bedroom property last May for £2.35 million. It had been on the market for offers over £2.15 million.

The actor also spoke about how much he misses Scotland an interview at Comic Con exhibition in Edinburgh last year.

He said: ‘What I miss the most about Scotland, is of course my family. My mum and dad and my brother (Colin) and his wife Sarah and my nephew and my niece…

‘I miss the landscape. I miss the air in Scotland. I miss the smell of the rain, the smell of the green and the colours of Scotland. And the people and the culture. I could just keep going on and on.’

McGregor left Scotland in his late teens to move to London to pursue his acting ambitions. He later moved to the US after his Hollywood career took off.
