Ex-EastEnders star Kacey Ainsworth reveals she has tested positive for ‘symptom-less’ coronavirus after a routine check while filming

Ex-EastEnders actress Kacey Ainsworth has tested positive for coronavirus.

The TV star, 52, who is best-known for portraying ‘Little Mo’ Mitchell on the BBC One soap from 2000 to 2006, has said that she is ‘gutted’ to have contracted Covid-19.

Kacey’s positive result came after a ‘routine test’ as part of ‘filming protocol’, revealing that two members of her family then tested positive, while two others came back with negative results.

Announcing her news on Twitter, the actress said she is feeling ‘fine’ and is thinking of those who are not as fortunate.

She wrote: ‘After years in the business my timing is usually impeccable. seen my dogs n the sheep. Sheep and my family only but I have tested positive for Covid on the day everyone can go out.

‘Feel gutted but mostly feel Huge gratitude that I’m fine thinking of those not so fortunate #herd (sic).’

Kacey also took to Twitter to ask her followers if she still needs to get the Covid vaccine if she has already tested positive for the virus.

The Grantchester star went on to explain that she has been ‘symptomless’, tweeting: ‘Day 5 in the big brother Covid house – all is well… symptomless – crossing fingers it says that way (sic)’

Kacey hilariously urged people to ‘read the rules’ properly as she realised she was allowed into her garden after already isolating inside her house for six days.

The star sparked speculation in September that she could be set for an EastEnders comeback after sharing a snap of the Elstree Studios, near to BBC Elstree Centre where the soap is filmed.

She captioned the image with lyrics from Barbra Streisand song ‘As If We Never Said Goodbye’, writing: ‘I don’t know why I’m frightened, I know my way around here.’

Kacey later ruled out starring on the long-running soap EastEnders again because she is ‘too busy’ to throw herself into a jam-packed schedule.

In December, she told Rylan Clark-Neal on BBC Sounds: ‘My problem is I’m too busy. Every time we’ve had a conversation about it I’ve gone and got another job.

‘Then I’m not available for the year. I would love us to all get back together again. My onscreen family live in my heart all of them.

‘We had our rows don’t get me wrong, we shouted at each other like a proper family but I am in contact with Jessie (Kat Moon) and Elaine (Lynn Hobbs) and Michelle (Zoe Slater), and Mo (Laila Morse) and I are at the same agency.

‘They live in my heart because we went through so much together.’
