A former police detective has been accused of carrying out a Fifty Shades of Grey inspired sadomasochistic attack on a woman he met through a dating website.
Roy Hedley, 53, of Ware, Hertfordshire, allegedly grabbed the woman’s breasts and when she cried out from the pain told her: ‘I haven’t given you permission to snivel’.
Luton Crown Court heard Hedley is also accused of grabbing the woman’s face and spitting in her mouth before telling her she ‘needed to be owned.’
A jury was told the pair met on Plenty of Fish dating app in June 2016 and heard that Hedley saw himself as a ‘Christian Grey figure’ – the male protagonist of the erotic Fifty Shades book and film trilogy.
The pair went to a pub before heading to Hedley’s riverside flat in the town, where the alleged assault took place.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: ‘He’s quite a big man and I didn’t want to antagonise him. I had tears coming down my face. I was staring at him like I was a caged animal.’
The Mirror reports that after the woman left his house she messaged him telling Hedley he had scared her, to which he allegedly replied: ‘You’re lovely. You’re looking for a Christian Grey. You are in charge xxx. Call me please’.
Hedley, who worked on the 7/7 terror attacks for the Met Police, denies assault and sexual assault and claims the woman agreed to everything.
He told the court: ‘I’m just a normal man who has a little bit of spicy stuff.’
