Ex-teacher ‘hooked up sexually’ with 18-year-old student

Tiffany Cordes, 27, pleaded guilty Thursday to a count of sexual imposition, which under Ohio law is defined as ‘the touching of another person’s erogenous area’

A former teacher at an Ohio high school faces up to a year-and-a-half in prison after she admitted to ‘hooking up sexually’ with a student, it was reported on Thursday.

Tiffany Cordes, 27, pleaded guilty Thursday to a count of sexual imposition, which under Ohio law is defined as ‘the touching of another person’s erogenous area.’

She was fired from her job as a teacher at Union Local High School in Belmont County, Ohio.

As part of her guilty plea, she is required to register with authorities as a sex offender, according to WTOV-TV.

Cordes was busted after the mother of the victim, an 18-year-old boy, caught him texting with the teacher and contacted police.

The boy told investigators that Cordes admitted to him that she had ‘hooked up’ with another student.

When police interviewed the other boy, he acknowledged that he and Cordes had ‘hooked up sexually’ at least once.

The incident took place after the student helped her haul prom supplies in his pickup truck, according to 7News.

Despite the student being 18 years old, Belmont County Prosecutor Dan Fry said that Cordes violated ‘a position of trust’ by engaging in sexual behavior with him.

After school administrators became aware of the charges, she was fired and banned from school property.

Cordes is due to be sentenced on October 27.
