A former teacher and current school administrator has been arrested for having sex with a 13-year-old male student that she was tutoring.

Brooke M. Wright, 39, was charged with two counts of sexual battery and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

The former teacher and administrator at Venture Academy in Delaware, Ohio, was suspended and placed on paid leave while the school investigated the allegations.

‘This teacher and school administrator was engaging in inappropriate sexual acts with a student,’ Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said in a Wednesday release.

According to the prosecutor, Wright is said to have engaged in sexual relations with the teen from May 2019 until September.

O’Brien later added: ‘The inappropriate sexual acts took place in multiple locations in Franklin County and if convicted on these charges, Wright faces numerous years of incarceration as well as registration as a sex offender.’

Educational Service Center of Central Ohio deputy superintendent Mike Trego said that the organization was 'sickened' by the allegations and announced on September 11 that the teacher was placed on paid leave

O’Brien commended the Columbus Police Department for investigating the case.

Wright is scheduled for arraignment on November 15 at the Franklin County Court.

On September 11, Educational Service Center of Central Ohio deputy superintendent Mike Trego said that the organization was ‘sickened’ by the allegations against Wright.

According to Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien, Wright is said to have engaged in sexual relations with the teen from May 2019 until September

‘Protecting students is our top priority, so everyone in our organization is sickened by the alleged actions of Brooke Wright,’ Trego said. ‘As soon as we learned of this, we took immediate action to remove her from access to any students and we’re cooperating with law enforcement to ensure that justice is done.’

Trego shared that the victim and his family have been offered counseling, along with any other students impacted by the accusations.

He continued: ‘Each member of our staff is trusted by families, educators, and the community to provide a safe and nurturing environment for student growth.’

‘If proven, the actions of Brooke Wright were a betrayal of that trust and must never happen. We’re all working to ensure that our students receive the counseling and support they may need. We’ll continue to work with both students and school districts to ensure every student can be on the path to success.’

The ESC of Central Ohio works with more than 200,000 students across 30 districts in the state of Ohio.

Ventures Academy is an alternative education program for students in grades 1-12 who ‘need social and behavioral intervention to succeed academically.’
