James, who is returning to the show to mark a decade on screens, is currently backing Wayne Lineker’s anti-trolling crusade and admits he has been badly effected by the experiences he has had in the past.
Speaking about the worst trolling he received, James, went on: ‘I had some really bad ones at the start. We used to do a lot of personal appearances…
‘I posted one picture saying I’m off to Ireland now and posted a picture of the plane and said like see everyone in such and such nightclub later, and then someone wrote “I hope the plane crashes and you die and burn” and I was just like WHAT…
‘That one really stuck in my head. But I don’t think a lot of people realise the damage of what they say, they don’t understand how much it hurts people. But like I said earlier, I have been quite lucky as a lot of people have had it way worse.’

Wayne has recently launched an anti-trolling campaign, which James backed wholeheartedly given the horrendous experiences he has had online.
He lauded the campaign’s aim to ban anonymous social media use, by forcing users to input personal details such as a passport number.
He said: ‘I think at the very start [of fame], you don’t know what you’re getting yourself into, and you don’t expect everyone to have an opinion on you…
‘It’s like, you would never expect someone to walk down the street and hurl abuse at you, its weird for someone in real life to comment on the way you look, what you’re wearing, your personality, but online, it’s absolutely fine to comment…

‘So I think you can never be mentally prepared for that. So when it starts, you just kind of have to get used to it in a way, still to this day though, I’m not used to it, like even now if I get a message saying something nasty in my DMs…
‘I’m kind of thinking like, who are you to say this to me? Personally I feel that I have got off lightly, I know other people who have been on reality shows have had it way worse, some of the screenshots people post of what is said to them…
‘I know a lot of the girls from the show get really bad stuff, Bobby Norris, Wayne Lineker, all them sort of guys, you see them posting about it and I just think wow this must be next level for these people and they are so strong to get through it…
‘But I definitely think, this petition to have ID to create your profile, to stop from people being able to create fake profiles will help a lot, of course it won’t completely stop it, but it will help a lot.’

On how he is affected and making plans: ‘Yeah, as I said, they need to get the ID in place, they need to make sure your profiles real. They do it for like tinder and stuff surely they can do it for other social medias!’
On having Geordie Shore regrets, James said: ‘I’m not really one to have regrets, there are a few things where I look back like I probably shouldn’t of done that or whatever, but its all part of growing up…
‘When I first started I was only 19 doing the show, so you don’t really know whats going on, so obviously looking back now I wouldn’t do half those things, so I just don’t watch the old shows.’
No regrets: Geordie Shore ‘s much-anticipated 10th Anniversary reunion has reportedly been hit with more delays following a row with the show’s stars
Geordie Shore’s much-anticipated 10th Anniversary reunion has reportedly been hit with more delays following a row with the show’s stars.
Sources claimed that MTV bosses are determined filming for the special will go ahead in Colombia, despite complaints from the cast about quarantine rules.
Much of Geordie Shore’s original cast including Charlotte Crosby and Sophie Kasaei were thought to be taking part in the reunion, but have reportedly been told by bosses they will not be flying to South America as planned.
