EXCLUSIVE Ferne McCann reveals she ditched the booze at the NTAs after embarking on eight-week detox

Ferne McCann has dedicated herself to a change of lifestyle, having given up alcohol as part of an eight week detox in time for her three-year-old daughter Sunday’s ‘big girl school’ debut.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, the reality star, 31, revealed she has refused temptation in order to focus on her grueling training routines and nutritious dieting.

Following a fun-filled night at the National Television Awards where she, Bobby Norris and Billie Faiers howled with laughter while reminiscing about their TOWIE days, Ferne said she was proud of herself for staying away from the booze on offer.

‘I didn’t drink a drop!’ Ferne McCann has revealed she ditched the booze at the NTAs after embarking on an eight-week detox following indulgent summer

‘I didn’t drink a drop of alcohol. Not even a sip of champagne. I really want to get strong and fit. It’s not necessarily a body transformation but I really want to challenge myself physically to do some open water swimming.

‘I recently started boxing and I got back into my running which is so hard but I feel I can’t commit with my absolute 100% effort when I haven’t had enough sleep or fuelled my body with the right nutrition.’

Self admittedly, she’s indulged in a string of barbecues, pizza and a few too many Aperol Spritzes over the summer.

‘Let’s face it, I’ve really celebrated this summer. I threw a 30th birthday party even though I’m 31. I just thought that now’s the time to get back in the game as Sunday begins school,’ the former I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here campmate said.

It follows a new campaign where Ferne has partnered with Pom-Bear in order to inspire families across the country to overhaul their lazy lifestyles.

‘For me, personally, I can’t even walk out the front door and start my day without getting a little bit of exercise and eating well.

‘Sometimes we focus on us and how we’re gonna get fit and keep active but it’s equally as important to encourage our children to get active and that’s what I love about this campaign.

‘Something to do together, really low cost activities that you can do indoors and outdoors with your kids. It’s just so ideal for parents looking to do something new to keep them entertained because sometimes it can be tricky.’

Ferne believes it’s important for parents to keep their children active during their spare time, which can be built around their school routine following the September return to the classroom.

‘What an active lifestyle can do for you, mentally, physically, emotionally, is exactly what it’s going to do for your children as well,’ she said.

With four days left until she wraps filming for First Time Mum’s seventh series on ITVBe, the influencer revealed she is beginning to question whether she wants her ‘threenager’ to forge a career in the spotlight.

‘I don’t know if I would want her to do that, which sounds so contradicting because obviously I do reality TV. I think the genre has a stigma and people think we’re talentless but actually it’s so entertaining.

‘You do have to be a certain type of person to do it,’ she added.

‘Would she be brave enough and have that thick skin to cope with any trolling or press or negativity? That girl knows her own voice and what she wants but I want her to go to university and to educate herself,’ Ferne decided.

Changes: But now, she's overhauling her lifestyle and is encouraging Sunday to do the same

‘We make a great little team. I was so concerned about her first day in the foundation year at school but she walked in like a queen. She’s so quietly confident. I thought, “Yeah, she’s going to be absolutely fine.”

‘I just feel really sad that some parents don’t give themselves enough credit because being a single parent definitely has its ups and downs. I just felt really proud of her, but also proud of us.’

Ferne McCann is encouraging families to stay active as they settle back into their school routines. Pom-Bear is providing low-cost indoor and outdoor activity inspiration via its social media channels.
