EXCLUSIVE: From home-cooked airplane meals to wrapping entire outfits in plastic: Martha Stewart reveals her top travel must-haves… as she rents out her beloved farmhouse to fans

Ever wondered what it’s like travelling the world as an A-list lifestyle guru?

America’s favourite celebrity homemaker Martha Stewart has lifted the lid on her travel must-haves as part of her latest collaboration with digital travel site booking.com.

Thanks to her jet-setting lifestyle, the 82-year-old is no stranger to the perils of international flights, and chooses to bring her own home-cooked food rather than accept airplane meals.

‘I must bring my own food on the plane, so I can have a fresh, delicious snack or meal,’ she said.

‘Sometimes I’ll bring a salad, a sandwich, or even hard-boiled eggs from one of my own chickens.’

Martha said she also pre-selects her holiday outfits before she even steps on the plane.

‘To save time during my trips, I like to pick my outfits and pack them each on their own hanger, then wrap them in plastic,’ the media mogul explained.

‘That way, I can hang them up and they’ll be wrinkle-free when I arrive at my destination, which is why I like staying in homes with great closets and drawer space so I can stay organised during my trip.’

The bestselling author also never travels without her iPad, as she loves to ‘stay connected, check emails, and catch up on her favourite shows.’

Martha has partnered with booking.com to offer two fans the chance to book a stay at her own Thanksgiving-inspired farmhouse in Bedford, New York.

The experience will feature an itinerary curated by Martha to include some of her favourite autumn activities including brunch with Martha herself and a private table setting demonstration by celebrity designer expert Kevin Sharkey.

Guests will also enjoy a tour of the grounds, including a look at Martha’s Insta-famous chicken coop, gardens and stables.

‘As someone who loves hosting, I’m excited to share my personal tips and wisdom from many years of welcoming family, friends, and now Booking.com bookers, to my home,’ she said.

Bookings open on November 16 for a stay taking place between November 18 – 19.
