EXCLUSIVE: Taylor Swift WON’T do Super Bowl halftime show in Vegas because she’s ‘too busy with her tour’ and doesn’t think it would be a ‘career-defining moment’: Singer wants to wait until event takes place in a city closer to her heart like Nashville

Taylor Swift has turned down the chance to perform at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in Las Vegas because she is simply too ‘busy’ with her current Eras world tour.

The 33-year-old singer, who will play several shows at Foro Sol in Mexico this week, has been touring the United States since March of this year but is ‘in no rush’ to do the legendary musical performance that usually lasts between 12 and 15 minutes.

Taylor doesn’t believe that performing at the Super Bowl halftime show in Sin City would be ‘a defining moment for her right now’ and is very much focused on other projects.

A source close to the Shake It Off hitmaker exclusively tells DailyMail.com: ‘Taylor is busy with her current tour, she has zero time to prepare a Super Bowl show, she will do it eventually, but she is in no rush at all to do it in Vegas or do it in the next couple of years.

‘She knows she is at her peak in her career and each move from this point on is as important as the next. Working on her current tour and recording her old music and working on new music and living life are taking up the majority of her time.’

The insider continued: ‘The Super Bowl will be a nice thing to do someday but it is not a defining moment for her right now. She knows she has all the time in the world, and she always reminds her team that Madonna was 53 when she finally did the show herself, so timing is everything.

‘Taylor is well aware of how she wants her career to develop and will do things her way and her way only and will not rush into something she doesn’t want to do just to do it and that includes the Super Bowl.’

Meanwhile, a source close to the NFL revealed: ‘Taylor will have her opportunity to be the Super Bowl Halftime Show and has been asked a handful of times but when it comes to next year and the show in Vegas, it will not be her.

‘She wants to be a part of the show at some point and is leaning towards doing it in a few years, especially if the Super Bowl is in Nashville.

‘But when it comes to Vegas, any Taylor fans shouldn’t be excited that she is going to do it, because it isn’t happening,’ they added.

Representatives for Taylor and the NFL did not respond to requests for comment.

Taylor, who recently wrapped up the North American leg of her Eras Tour, spent the weekend in New Jersey where she attended the wedding of Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley.

Jack, a music producer, and Margaret, an actress, tied the knot on Saturday at the picturesque seaside resort town of Beach Haven, New Jersey.

A array of famous faces attended the big day, including Taylor, who has worked with the groom on over 50 songs.

Taylor looked stunning in a baby blue lace dress that featured a corset-style top and a frilled skirt.

The Bad Blood hitmaker wore her hair down straight and completed her look with jeweled heels and a bold red lip as she partied with the likes of Cara Delevingne and Lana Del Rey.

Days before the wedding, she was also spotted out and about in New York City last Thursday when she reunited with her good friend Ed Sheeran.

The duo — who’ve worked on a number of songs together over the years — grabbed dinner at the members-only social club Zero Bond and were flanked by security as they exited the celeb hotspot separately.

Taylor looked effortlessly stylish as she strolled out of the building wearing a rust-toned dress that featured a flowy satin skirt.

Her dirty blonde hair was tied in a braid and she sported black platform loafers that matched her purse.

Ed, 32, cut a casual figure in a white T-shirt and black skinny jeans and hid most of his ginger hair beneath a baseball cap before completing his look with a pair of Jordan 1 Retro High OG Washed Black sneakers.

The Shape of You singer recently revealed why he won’t perform at the Super Bowl halftime show either.

Ed reckons that people wouldn’t want to see him perform at Super Bowl as he doesn’t have the ‘pizzazz’ to pull it off.

Speaking on Andy Cohen’s Deep & Shallow podcast on SiriusXM, he said: ‘I think that would be the only way that I would do it is if I was joining someone else.’

He added that it was more of an ‘an American thing,’ before remarking: ‘I don’t have pizzazz. Like, all of these amazing performers – I’m just not that. I’m not gonna have dancers on stage. I’m not gonna have fireworks and blah blah.

‘I just can’t, that’s not me. I don’t think that anyone wants to see me do the Super Bowl either.’

Ed then went on to joke he could ‘wear sparkles’ to add some extra pizzazz, before confirming: ‘I think I would do it as a guest.’

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is an annual American tradition where an artist or group of artists perform a medley of songs in between the two halves of the National Football League’s (NFL) biggest game of the year.

This year, Rihanna took to the stage for the show, with the singer stunning fans as she revealed she was expecting her second child during the thrilling performance.

Last week it was revealed that Lizzo has been dropped from Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show consideration after facing a series of shocking sexual harassment and fat-shaming allegations from former dancers.

Earlier this month the 35-year-old popstar – who has marketed herself as a body-positive activist – found herself at the center of a sensational scandal when three of her former dancers, Crystal Williams, Noelle Rodriguez and Arianna Davis, filed a lawsuit accusing her of creating a ‘hostile work environment.’

An NFL insider exclusively told DailyMail.com that the ensuing backlash over the allegations has prompted the organization to immediately drop Lizzo from Super Bowl Halftime Show contention – having previously had her name in the mix as one of the front-runners for the 2024 spectacle.

‘Talks of Lizzo being a part of the Halftime festivities, or performing the National Anthem, are dead now that she is surrounded by scandal,’ the source said in the wake of the accusations – which Lizzo vehemently denies.
