‘I think that all we tried to do when we went in is just be completely ourselves and vulnerable and allow the public to see exactly how we felt at every moment.’

The Sydney-based couple, both 27, admitted to being caught somewhat off-guard by the brewing drama, which, according to Gian, was an inevitable part of the journey.

‘Definitely didn’t anticipate for the drama, but that’s just what came with it,’ he mused.

‘There were ups, there were also downs, and you can’t really shy away from the downs. You just have to embrace everything and all the experiences.’

Gian admits not everything was a bed of roses behind the scenes.

Throughout filming, the pair were accused of breaking the rules after Steph’s father flew in from interstate to help with them with their renovations.

The duo admit they were stunned by whispers and conversations happening behind their backs.

Steph found it quite puzzling, stating, ‘still to this day, I’m like, I don’t find myself threatening, so yeah, maybe you have to ask them to see if they’re threatened by us.’

Throughout the drama, their focus remained unshaken – their mission was to renovate as quickly and perfectly as possible and they did it with an unwavering spirit.

‘Our names are in other people’s mouths that just says more about them and yeah, we can’t really control that. We can’t control that. And we knew that,’ Steph said.

Meanwhile, Gian said the raw and unfiltered emotions viewers witness on the show comes down to pure exhaustion and relentless pressure.

‘I think for me, watching the show, no one will ever be able to understand the type of emotions and stresses we were feeling in that moment of time,’ he explained.

‘There’s obviously been things that have been said out of pure exhaustion that maybe people wouldn’t have said if they’re in a right state of mind.’

The Block continues on Sunday at 7pm on Channel Nine
