The clip, which garnered over 1.8 million views, begins with Austin explaining: ‘This technique is called startling the snakes.’

He then goes on to reveal that the easiest way to discover someone’s true feelings towards you is to give them a surface-level compliment, which could be perceived either as ‘superficially polite or subtly insulting.’

An example of the kind of compliment you can give is, ‘Hey, nice outfit,’ the psychology specialist says.

According to Austin, the way in which your friend interprets this compliment will tell you all you need to know about their real opinion of you.

‘A friend will take this as a superficial compliment, but a secret enemy will interpret this negatively and lash out,’ she says.

Austin adds that someone who secretly hates you will insult you after you give them a compliment that could be perceived as insulting.

He concludes his sneaky hack by noting: ‘A strong negative response will let you see what’s boiling under their surface and make you aware.’

In a previously viral video, Austin shared a ‘sneaky psychology hack to find out how someone really feels about you.’

He begins by noting that you can use his trick with family, friends and partners but adds that you should be prepared to receive an ‘unexpected’ response.

Austin adds: ‘Next time you’re with your selected person, ask them ”what do you think about me?” and expect a superficial answer.

He notes that usually people respond by noting that you are ‘nice and fun to hangout with.’

From here, Austin encourages his followers to ask their selected person why they’re ‘nice and fun to hangout with’.

He notes that if their selected person doesn’t go into detail or says ‘I don’t know’, they most likely don’t put ‘much thought’ into your relationship with them.

His followers flooded his comments section with praise, thanking him for his 'help' and teaching them 'sneaky' tricks to reveal the truth behind their relationships
