An explosive device has been found near a primary school in Geelong. 

Bomb squad officers arrested a 25-year-old man after the device was found on Mark Street, in the suburb of Lara.

A witness, called Kate, told 3AW there was a heavy police presence near a primary school.

Police found the suspected bomb after raiding a home on the street at about 12pm.

The property has been cordoned off.
