Extraordinary photo shows a WATER TRUCK spectacularly bursting into flames as stunned tradies watch on

A water truck has burst into flames on a major country road in central Queensland with the occupants fleeing for their lives.

Emergency services raced to Dysart Middlemount Road near Middlemount around 8.30am on Friday following reports of a truck on fire.

Fire crews called for back-up during the trip after seeing massive plumes of black smoke billowing from the scene.

The truck was well alight when firefighters arrived on scene but was extinguished quickly.

A photo from the scene shortly after firefighters arrived shows the truck completely engulfed by the blaze as thick plumes of smoke fill the air.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find the water truck completely engulfed in flames

It’s understood the blaze broke out in the truck cabin, forcing the occupants to flee.

‘Everyone got out okay, there was no other threat to buildings or other vehicles,’ a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said.

Paramedics were called to the scene but no injuries were recorded.

‘No patients were treated and no transports were required,’ an ambulance spokesman said.

Firefighters spent two hours mopping up at the scene once the blaze was contained.

Dysart Middlemount Road was closed in both directions for about an hour but has since reopened.

Middlemount is halfway between Mackay and Rockhampton.
