Extreme weather warning as Sydney swelters through the hottest summer day this year as total fire bans are imposed and bushfire in Victoria grows to the ‘size of Singapore’

The NSW Rural Fire Srvice has imposed as ‘total fire ban’ across the Greater Sydney Region, Greater Hunter, Northern Slopes and North Western areas.

‘Hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast across parts of the state, increasing the fire danger,’ they said.

Temperatures are expected to hit 41 degrees in Singelton Maitland and Cessnock, while it is forecast to reach 42 degrees in Walgett in the state’s north.

The Bureau of Meterology (BOM) also issued a fire weather warning for the Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney and North Western regions on Friday morning.

‘Extreme Fire Danger is forecast with fresh and gusty northwesterly winds combined with hot and dry conditions,’ BOM said.
