Family of Greenacre man Mamdouh Noufl – allegedly murdered by his wife – break their silence… as his partner is accused of grim act with an electric saw

EXCLUSIVE

The grief-stricken family of a man who is alleged to have been murdered by his wife before being ‘butchered and dismembered’ with an electric saw have broken their silence to thank the community for all their ‘support and prayers’.

NSW Police will allege Nirmeen Noufl, 53, killed her husband, Mamdouh Noufl, in their family home before carving up his body and disposing of his remains in plastic bags at various residential and industrial sites across Sydney’s southwest.

The 62-year-old was first reported missing in July 2023, with police told the small business owner had not been seen in two months after vanishing from their home in Juno Parade, in Greenacre, in Sydney’s west.

Police now allege Mr Noufl and his wife had a fight before she killed him on May 3 and disposed of his lifeless body in rubbish bins throughout the city.

The mother-of-eight was arrested at a hospital in Bankstown on Thursday afternoon and charged with murder.

Noufl was refused bail and was remanded in custody after fronting court on Friday.

Mr Noufl’s devastated family have been rocked by the allegations, having spent the past year urging anyone with information about his disappearance to come forward.

Concerned friends feared the worst as an investigation into Mr Noufl’s disappearance dragged on

One of his relatives thanked the Shine The Light ‘Missing Persons’ Australia community Facebook page in particular for their assistance in trying to locate Mr Noufl after he vanished.

‘This is my uncle … it’s a very unfortunate (time) and news for our family to day,’ Shaz Jay said on the site.

‘I want to say thank you for all the posts you have done regarding his disappearance. All your support and prayers mean a lot.’

Fresh details reveal the timing of Noufl’s arrest was crucial as she was deemed a flight risk and had an apparent financial interest in relocating to the Middle East.

It will be alleged she had previously travelled to Egypt to sell properties and was in the process of purchasing shares in the United Arab Emirates.

Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty described the alleged murder as ‘brutal’, ‘macabre’ and ‘bizarre’.

‘The remains have not been located and police doubt they will ever be located due to the nature in which they were [allegedly] disposed of,’ Supt Doherty said.

Supt Doherty said police would allege Noufl provided detectives with ‘various versions’ of the whereabouts of her husband.

She allegedly told her children, friends and family that Mr Noufl had flown to Egypt to visit family however family members were not able to locate or reach him.

The victim’s bank accounts were also used until July 2023 when family friends of the couple reported the 62-year-old as missing, Supt Doherty said.

A friend told 9News Mr Noufl was a quiet man.

‘He was a very, very quiet person,’ he said, ‘(he was) smiley, very focused on his work.’

Mr Noufl’s mates raised the alarm three months after he was allegedly killed, with his friend revealing his disappearance had concerned him at the time.

‘I was very concerned, of course,’ he said

‘I thought inside that there must be something bad that for sure happened to him.’

The couple moved from Egypt to Sydney over 30 years ago and had lived in the Greenacre home for the last five to 10 years.

Supt Doherty said the couple’s eight adult children, aged in their 20s and 30s, are still ‘processing the information’ and are likely to be in distress.

The cause and manner of the alleged victim’s death are still unknown but police will allege Noufl killed her husband ‘intentionally’.
