Famous reality star reveals he’s desperate for a spot on Farmer Wants A Wife: ‘Help a bloke out’

He made headlines around the world when he came out on Big Brother Australia back in in 2006.

And now David Graham, 44, has revealed he is keen to return to the Aussie small screen in a quest to find love on hit Seven Network reality show Farmer Wants A Wife.

Speaking with Chattr, David, also affectionately known as ‘Farmer Dave’, revealed he had been single for more than a year and is now ready to find love again.

‘I’m at that point in my mid-40s where I’m serious about getting a real future plan and doing that with a lifelong partner,’ he said.

In a message to producers, David went on to say that he was keen to try his luck on the show despite it only ‘supplying wives’.

‘I’m a farmer looking for a husband. I know the title does suggest you only supply wives, but it’s 2024. Help a bloke out,’ he pleaded.

David’s admission comes after fans, hoping for an LGBTQIA+ storyline on the 2025 iteration of the reality show, were left disappointed after the lineup of eligible bachelors  was revealed to be eight straight men.

A network insider has revealed it ‘was not an intentional move from the producers’ to axe the diverse storyline.

Big Brother’s David Graham, 44, has revealed that he is keen to return to the Aussie small screen in a quest to find love on hit Seven Network reality show Farmer Wants A Wife

‘There were some pretty strong discussions that Farmer Wants A Wife was going to have a diversity angle for the next season of the popular dating show but those plans have been dropped due to a lack of suitable applicants from both same-sex attracted farmers and potential love interests,’ a source told Yahoo Lifestyle.

‘We know that there are strong communities in regional areas, and we would love to have them take part in the long-running show. It is not for lack of trying.

‘The audition process is quite extensive, and while there were a handful of options, in the end, the farmers picked were more suitable based on their personalities this time around.’

David first hit Australian TV screens in the 2006 series of Big Brother, where he came out as gay to his fellow housemates.

He reprised the role in 2022 for the series reboot.

In January 2023, David announced his engagement to boyfriend Shazli after less than a year of dating.

At the time, he told Woman’s Day:  ‘I thought I had hit the jackpot.’
