Bluey fans have been left shocked after uncovering a long-held mystery about the beloved animated character.

A fan recently shared a post to social media which revealed she had a toy credit card from the show, which had the name Bluey C. Heeler printed on it.

‘Am I the only one that doesn’t know Bluey’s middle name? Somebody help!’ the fan asked.

Fellow Bluey lovers quickly came to the rescue and explained one episode revealed what the lovable character’s middle name was.

‘I’m fairly certain I remember in one episode someone yelling Bluey Christine,’ one person wrote.

‘They call [Bluey’s father] Bandit’s mum Chris in the handstand episode. I assume she’s named after her,’ a second user added.

The revelation sparked renewed excitement among fans, highlighting the enduring intrigue and attention to detail that captivates audiences of the popular children’s series. 

It follows reports that Bluey was the top dog on Australian TV in 2024 after breaking viewership records on the ABC and ABC iview.

According to a recent ratings survey, the beloved show has been one of the biggest success stories in the United States over the last two years. 

The children’s animated series has been riding high in the top ten shows streamed in the US for a massive 112 weeks.

The figures were compiled by the Nielsen ratings, which tracks viewership in the US, reported the Comicbook website.

Bluey is broadcast in more than 60 countries, with all three seasons of the Emmy-award-winning cartoon available on ABC iview in Australia, Disney+ in the U.S. and select episodes on BBC iPlayer in the U.K.

In December, BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company announced they are bringing Bluey’s first-ever animated feature film to the big screen.

It will be written and directed by the show’s creator Joe Brumm.

‘I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on The Sign in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that,’ Brumm said.

‘I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. 

‘I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.’

The film will feature the voices of Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as Bluey’s mum and dad, Chilli and Bandit Heeler, in addition to music created by composer Joff Bush.

The CG animated film will be produced by award-winning animation producer Amber Naismith, while Richard Jeffery will return to co-direct the film.

It is set to be released in cinemas in 2027.
