Fans heap praise on stunning goal-line clearance from Andy Robertson against Crystal Palace… with the Liverpool defender hailed for ‘saving the season’

Andy Robertson has been hailed by Liverpool fans after his stunning goal line clearance prevented the Reds from falling 2-0 down against Crystal Palace.

Liverpool had been rocked by Eberechi Eze’s opening goal against Anfield and were indebted to Robertson to avoid another blow.

Jean-Philippe Mateta capitalised on a slip by Virgil van Dijk and chipped Alisson, with the Palace forward appearing to have doubled the visitors’ lead.

Robertson sprinted back to produce a superb clearance off the line to spare Van Dijk’s blushes.

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon praised Robertson’s intervention as ‘world class’.

‘That is absolutely awesome. What a brilliant passage of football that is,’ Lennon said on BBC Radio 5Live.

‘Again, the outball is Eze because of Bradley’s position. Mateta is in one on one, I thought he was a bit casual with the finish and it is a brilliant goal-saving tackle on the line from Robertson.

‘He couldn’t have timed that any better. It’s world-class from Robertson.’
