Fans in hysterics as they claim the Paris Olympics logo looks like two celebrity icons – insisting they ‘can’t unsee’ the resemblance

Olympics fans have claimed that the official logo for the Paris 2024 Games shares a certain resemblance to two celebrities.

According to organisers, the white and gold logo, which looks like a flame and a ladies’ face, has several meanings which ‘reflect a part of the French identity and values.’

The logo is said to resemble ‘Marianne’ the personification of the French Republic.

‘Marianne is a familiar face in French culture that is omnipresent in day-to-day life, appearing on stamps and outside every town hall,’ Paris 2024’s official website states.

Organisers add that the Olympic and Paralympic flame which can be seen in the logo also represents the energy that drives the event and ‘encourages us to be bold’ to face daily challenges.

Yet, some fans online believe the logo shares a resemblance with two celebrities.

One X (formerly Twitter) user, @KevinandTrevor took to the social media platform to claimthat the logo looks like American singer and songwriter, Mary J. Blige.

Blige, 53, is well known for songs like ‘Family Affair’, ‘Take Me as I Am’ and ‘Not Gon’ Cry’.

He wrote: ‘Someone said that the Olympics logo looks like Mary J. Blige and now I can’t unsee it!’

‘And now neither can I,’ another wrote in response. ‘I’ll think of Mary J. Blige every time I see the Paris Olympics logo. ‘

One added: ‘Is it just me, or does the Olympics logo look like Mary J. Blige?’

While one replied adding: ‘Someone said Gail Platt and now I can’t unsee it.’

Several other users appeared to also think the logo bore a resemblance to the Coronation Street star, with one even going as far as saying that the ‘blueprint’ of the Paris 2024 logo was based on Platt.

The 2024 Olympics, meanwhile, officially opened on Friday night, with spectators lining the banks of the River Seine to watch a bizarre and entertaining opening ceremony, which was a world first for the Games.

It was the first Opening Ceremony at the Olympics to be held outside of a stadium and featured rock bands, a horse floating down the river and even a naked blue man who was unveiled on a platter of flowers.

So far, we’ve enjoyed an eventful games, with Team GB taking a haul of medals early on, scooping up 10 medals, including three golds.
