Fans left disenchanted as first batch of seats for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child SELL OUT

Fans have vented their fury on Twitter after the first batch of tickets for Harry Potter And The Cursed Child sold out in just a couple of hours. 

On Monday morning, Ticketmaster was overwhelmed by the phenomenal demand for early-bird priority seats for the lavish production, which previews at Melbourne’s Princes Theatre in January 2019. 

And fans of the boy wizard desperate for tickets even found themselves in an online queue of up to 40,000 customers.

‘What was the point of signing up early?’ On Monday morning, Ticketmaster was overwhelmed by the phenomenal demand for early-bird priority seats for the lavish production, which previews at Melbourne’s Princes Theatre in January 2019

‘32000 people waiting in front of you. What was the point of signing up early?’ one punter grumbled on Twitter. 

Another fan raged: ‘30,944 in line for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child priority tickets when I logged in 3 minutes before tickets even went on sale?? What the hell ticketmaster?!’

Another fumed: ‘Can’t believe there’s over 22000 people waiting to buy Harry Potter and the Cursed Child tickets right now!’

The play’s media agency released a statement at 4.15pm to say priority booking tickets had sold out.

‘The allocation has been increased and additional priority booking tickets will be available from 12pm Wednesday, August 1, 2018 to mailing list subscribers with a unique booking code,’ the statement said.  

Meanwhile the lucky few who managed to land a golden ticket had to wait for up to three hours for their orders to be processed.

Penned by J.K. Rowling, the play runs over two parts, with each spanning a massive 2.5 hours across separate performances.   

Starting where the final book Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows left off in its ‘Epilogue’ set in 2017 (19-years after the events of the rest of the book), the main character is Harry Potter’s second son with his best mate’s sister Ginny Weasley, Albus Severus Potter, who is finally ready to attend Hogwarts like his dad.

Harry – who now works at the Ministry Of Magic – is given a supporting role, with the play predominately focusing on the time-turning exploits of Albus and company.
