Tyrese Haliburton hit a 21-foot pull-up jumper in the final second on Thursday as the Indiana Pacers completed a stunning comeback for a 111-110 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

The Pacers hadn’t led in the game until man of the moment Haliburton drained the shot with 0.3 seconds remaining.

And the man who has captivated the NBA throughout the postseason wasn’t done there. Speaking to Scott Van Pelt on the court moments after his heroics, fans were bemused by Haliburton’s voice changing tone throughout his inerview with the analyst.

‘We’ve had to win in so many different ways, we’ve had so many weird wins all through the regular season so why would that change?’ Haliburton said, before his voice went higher.

‘It’s not changing. We just keep staying at it and keep believing and that is the result we get.’

‘Tyrese Haliburton with the voice-change in the middle of his interview on national TV,’ one fan wrote on X, posting the clip in question.

Another NBA fan shared the clip and wrote: ‘One of the wonders of this playoff run has been getting more Tyrese Haliburton interviews.

‘The man uses two very different, very distinct voices in the same breath…more than his clutch gene, this fascinates me to no end.’

A different comment read: ‘Huge night for Tyrese Haliburton. First Finals game. First Finals game winner. First Finals voice morph.’

Haliburton has spoken about it before. In 2024 in an appearance on the Pat McAfee, his voice noticeable changed tone during an answer.

‘You have two different voices,’ McAfee said. ‘I thought it was our microphones!’

Haliburton took the comment graciously and said: ‘People say that all the time! I never catch it but I watch podcasts and I’m like “damn my voice changed”. I didn’t do it on purpose!’.

Later in his interview, he shook his hand when Van Pelt admitted he ‘was late to the party’ on how good Haliburton and the Pacers are.

‘Yeah, you’re a real one for that,’ Haliburton said, shaking Van Pelt’s hand. ‘I heard that, you’re a real one for that. A lot of your counterparts won’t admit that now.’

Van Pelt responded: ‘Now I am going to give myself wiggle room. You guys were under 500 at Christmas, am I right? Were you bad at the start?’

Haliburton laughed and said: ‘We were, we were rough. For sure. We were late to the party too.’

Haliburton, who scored 14 points in Game 1, and the Pacers are back in action against OKC in Game 2 on Sunday night.
