Fans slam Bachelorette star Charlie Newling as ‘bloody full on’ as he confronts Ali Oetjen

Bachelorette Ali Oetjen was taken aback when contestant Charlie Newling raised concerns she was ‘quite spread out’ with her dating habits on the show.

Concerned about their fading ‘power couple’ connection as she continued to kiss other men, the builder engaged in an intense conversation that raised eyebrows with fans.

Viewers took to Twitter during Wednesday’s episode to slam the reality star as ‘controlling’, ‘manipulative’, and ‘bloody full on’.

Charlie, who was quickly labelled this year’s ‘stage-five clinger’ after securing the first kiss of the season, appeared to make Ali uncomfortable during the exchange.

‘It feels like Charlie is lecturing me, he’s coming off quite intense and I’m not sure I like it,’ the blonde bombshell said of her chat with the star at the cocktail party.

Fans were quick to pick up on the uneasiness between the pair, writing on social media: ‘Mate you know there’s a house full of guys in there. It isn’t just you two!’ and ‘Charlie has definitely forgotten he’s on a dating show.’

Others had no qualms slamming him as a ‘control freak’, ‘s**t shamer’ and ‘stage 5 clinger’, while another claimed: ‘Sign of a controlling, manipulative SOB. Avoid.’

Charlie appeared concerned of his fading connection with Ali, noting how many other men on the show had now also locked lips with he beauty.

‘There’s a lot of guys who’ve had dates, had kisses. It’s hard to know who’s the top dog,’ he bemoaned, appearing to consider himself a frontrunner.

‘Maybe she’s worried and wants a lot of options… she needs to be fully invested in at least three people,’ Charlie complained, even speaking about the possibility of being invited to home town visits.

Charlie said he didn’t trust Ali to make the ‘right decision’, because she wasn’t spending ‘quality time’ with the ‘right people’.

‘He thinks he has the right to speak on Ali’s behalf. What gives him that sense of entitlement? He’s already become protective of her, like a jealous boyfriend.’

Todd added: ‘He can’t handle the fact he might not be the one for her.’

‘She’s still dating guys she knows nothing about,’ Charlie explained.

Taking Ali aside, Charlie began: ‘At the moment you’re obviously quite spread out in terms of who you’ve been dating… There’s not a lot of time left and If I out myself in your shoes I know I would want to start dating people I’ve dated before, again.’

Shocked by his brazen approach, Ali confirmed: ‘I’ve got this. You just have to trust in me.’

‘It feels like Charlie is lecturing me on how I’m supposed to be at this stage… He wants to control the situation. He’s wanting transparency on how I’m feeling about him and other people.’

Ali told the builder: ‘I don’t think I’ve ever, ever, ever trusted my gut so clearly ever. i just feel really good.’

‘It felt like the energy between us was gone. I’m not feeling confident in Ali and I,’ he pondered at the rose ceremony as he awaited his fate on the show.

Ali sent one man home on Wednesday night, and fortunately for Charlie it was plumber Robert Colangelo who didn’t receive a rose.
