‘Retro but not in the good way’: Fans unimpressed by Colombia’s new home shirt as James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao unveil kit for Copa America
- Adidas unveiled a series of kit designs ahead of the Copa America on Tuesday
- They all feature retro designs and the kits have mostly been praised by fans
- But there was a negative social media reaction on Twitter to Colombia’s kit
The retro trend has been a key aspect of kit design over the last couple of seasons, with clubs and countries latching on to the suddenly fashionable nature of old football shirts.
When Adidas unveiled their line up of new kits for this summer’s Copa America, they continued the retro theme.
There was heavy praise for the Argentina shirt and the one to be donned by Mexico.

But it seems as though there has not been a particularly positive response to one of their designs.
Colombia’s yellow shirt with a series of black stripes and further black emblems across it has not been met particularly well on social media.
@FrankieMART wrote in response to being asked to describe the shirt: ‘Retro but not in the good way’.
Matthew Butlin was even more blunt, responding: ‘Garbage’.
@SomeLatinGuy on Twitter added: ‘New Colombia home kit is beyond trash’.
Juan Pablo Gonzalez was also not impressed, writing: ‘The Colombia kit is godawful.’
