‘This is why huge sporting events should be free to air on TV!’: Fans watching Champions League final blast BT Sport’s 4K YouTube live coverage for ‘atrocious’ quality
- Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are competing for the Champions League
- Fans have not been impressed by the BT Sport YouTube quality for the game
- Some are very angry, while others are simply making jokes about the coverage
Many football fans have been treated to live coverage of the Champions League final on YouTube this year, but it appears the quality of the free stream isn’t up to scratch.
As well as being broadcast on BT Sport, the clash between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur is also freely available on their YouTube channel in 4K.
However, fans have been complaining of a strange ghosting effect which is making the match almost unwatchable.
Fans have not been impressed by the BT Sport YouTube quality for the Champions League final
‘Streaming quality of Champions League final on YouTube is atrocious,’ wrote one viewer on Twitter. ‘BT Sport really need to sort it out. This is why huge sporting events should be free to air on TV.’
It seems that the problems are not down to Internet connection speeds, either.
‘Love that I can watch the Champions league final on YouTube but this ghosting thing is killing me,’ said another. ‘Sort it out! I have Fibre optic broadband!’
‘BT Sport buys exclusive rights to Champions League final – streams it for free in 4k on YouTube – it looks like this. Great job,’ said one more fan, sarcastically.
Others made jokes about the quality, with one comparing the quality to NASL Soccer, a video game for the Intellivision from 1980.
Unfortunately the quality of the game itself wasn’t much better, with both teams unable to make much of a breakthrough after Liverpool’s early goal from the penalty spot.
