Farmers embark on three-day journey with gigantic hay bale

These incredible photos capture Bangladeshi farmers moving enormous blocs of hay and jute by precariously balancing them on wooden boats and slowly motoring down the river.

They journey for two to three days with the 40ft wide and 20ft high haystacks until they reach the market to sell their produce.

The pictures were taken on the Jamuna river, near the town of Sirajganj where jute production is a large industry.

Amateur photographer Touhid Parvez, 32, said: ‘People take so much hay at one time because fuel costs are very high in comparison to the hay.’
