Minutes later the man returned to the dining room with a weapon before the violent argument was moved to the courtyard, police say.

He then allegedly stabbed the 43-year-old man multiple times in the stomach.

The unidentified victim then attempted to seek help by stumbling through the foyer of the building, where paramedics tried to save him.

He was taken to the Royal Melbourne hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

His alleged attacker was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count of murder.

He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday afternoon.
