A young ‘selfless’ dad who took cannabis oil to prolong his life after being diagnosed with a brain tumour has died at the age of 33.
Philip James’ story spread across the world after he became a staunch advocate of CBD, which contains banned Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
The father-of-one from Oakenholt in Flintshire, Wales, said the oil shrunk his tumour and staved off seizures allowing him to spend longer with his wife Nicola and their 15-month-old daughter, Phoebe.

He was diagnosed with a grade three tumour at the end of 2015 and it dramatically reduced in size after taking the drug.
But Philip then suffered a minor stroke and a CAT scan revealed a secondary tumour, causing him to suffer a series of falls, in February 2018.
He died at Nightingale House Hospice after being told he had months left to live, on January 5.
Today, his devastated widow Nicola paid tribute to the ‘best husband’ who always believed in her.
Philip’s wife Nicola (pictured) described him as the ‘most selfless person’ who made it his mission to help others become more aware of the benefits of medicinal cannabis. He was ‘so hands-on’ and ‘besotted’ with their 15-month daughter Phoebe
She said: ‘Throughout his entire cancer journey, he was always helping others, even those without the disease or with a different medical condition.’
He made it his mission to ‘make people aware’ about the benefits of medicinal cannabis by handing out leaflets in Chester city centre or standing outside parliament.
The father would never give up and ‘fought so hard to the very end’.

She added: ‘He was the best husband, he always believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.’
Philip was ‘so hands-on’ and ‘besotted’ with his daughter Phoebe while also being the ‘most loving son’ to his parents Linda and Nick.
‘I am glad he’s at peace now and finally free from that awful disease. I’ll miss him always, and love him forever. Sleep well my angel.’
Philip suffered a minor stroke and a CAT scan revealed he had a secondary tumour, which caused him to suffer a series of falls in February last year
Philip was a staunch advocate of using cannabis oil and strict diets as a way of tackling certain types of cancers and wanted to see more research done into its health benefits.
He allegedly went nearly two years without seizures after adopting the cannabis oil.
The drug was legalised under strict conditions for medicinal use if prescribed by an appropriate consultant on November 1, 2018.
However it has only been made available via private consultation and the government’s low stocks has made it difficult to get hold of.
Under the new law, it cannot be prescribed by a GP.
Speaking to North Wales Live last year, Philip said the Government was forcing him to ‘break the law or die’ despite trials already having shown the drug helps with epileptic seizures and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
A Welsh Government spokeswoman confirmed not a single dose of unlicensed medicinal cannabis had been dispensed in Wales.
Police and Crime Commissioner, Arfon Jones also backed Philip’s cause.
