  • While the teen ran away, the robbers shot at Arreguin, hitting him twice

A Texas father of two was fatally shot while attempting to assist a neighborhood teen who was being robbed at gunpoint in his driveway. 

Moyses Arreguin, 28, of Harris County, Texas, was shot twice by robbers Friday at about 11pm while he tried to protect the teen from them, according to authorities. 

His wife said that he had been home that night when he saw the robbery in progress, grabbed a baseball bat and then ran two doors over to help his 16-year-old neighbor, KHOU reported.   

Witnesses said that Arreguin managed to successfully hit one of the two robbers, which gave the teenager enough time to run away.

The robbers then shot at Arreguin, hitting him twice, authorities said.

The teen was not injured during the scuffle, but Arreguin died from his injuries.

The robbers were described as being young Hispanic males and were said to have fled from the scene in a dark-colored sedan, ABC 13 reported. 

Witnesses said that the robbers were cruising up and down the street before stopping at the 16-year-old’s house. He was sitting in his drive away at the time. Neighbors reported hearing at least three gunshots.

Witnesses said that the robbers had been driving up and down the block before the incident
