Father of woman linked to David Beckham brands claims ‘total nonsense’

A woman linked to David Beckham has ‘never met’ the former England captain and has been forced to suspend her social media accounts amid a barrage of abuse from online trolls, her father has revealed.

David and his wife Victoria dismissed divorce rumours as a ‘crock of s***’ on Friday after rumours circulated online the pair were to split.

Yesterday, a woman linked to the star in social media rumours was bombarded with more than 800 friend requests on Facebook.

But her father dismissed the speculation as ‘ridiculous’, adding that the family ‘have no idea where it has come from’.

Her father said that while the former England and Manchester United captain may have visited her place of work, the pair have never met and her employers may seek legal action over the claims.

‘My daughter has never even met him. End of story,’ he told the Sun on Sunday.

‘This is ridiculous. We have no idea where it has come from. She is a very pretty, attractive girl and been linked to it by fake news.

‘She lives very happily with her boyfriend.’

Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham was pictured for the first time yesterday since denying the end of the 19-year relationship.

The 44-year-old designer was seen leaving a boutique hotel in the upmarket district of Mayfair in London on Saturday, making a quick exit as she hurried into her car.

David, 43, was spotted shopping in Santa Monica, California, where he stopped in the Vans Store for the snap with a fan.

After rumours of an impending split began racing around social media on Friday, Jo Milloy, a spokesman for Spice Girl-turned-designer Victoria, told the Mail that the gossip was ‘absolute nonsense’.

Meanwhile former England football captain’s spokesman, Simon Oliveira, likewise dubbed the claims ‘embarrassing and laughable’.

Elsewhere, a spokesman for the couple was quoted as saying: ‘There is no statement due, no divorce, and a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news. This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time.’ The rumours were ‘a crock of s***’, he said.

The couple – parents of Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, six – are preparing to celebrate 19 years of marriage together next month.

The Mail also revealed that when Victoria saw the social media rumours about her marriage, she jokingly asked husband David, who was away in Miami at the time: ‘Are you divorcing me?’

The designer was said to be bemused but cracked jokes about it with friends.

A friend of the couple said: ‘Victoria was taken aback, but she found the whole thing very funny. They have had a sense of humour about this because it’s so ridiculous.

‘They are stunned that so many people have believed it, and also stunned that it so quickly got around. They spoke about it and laughed a lot. They have absolutely no idea where or how it started. It’s quite the mystery.’

Claims the couple were planning to divorce circulated on social media earlier on Friday, prompting high street bookmaker Paddy Power to suspend betting on them separating. Paddy Power’s move came despite there having been no suggestion the couple were having any marriage difficulties.
