A father in southern California over-reacted to his wife suggesting they get an artificial tree for Christmas – and his daughter caught the melodramatic scene on camera.
Madison Napoli, 21, filmed the moment her father, Joe, acted shocked and appalled when his wife, Marie, brought up the idea that they wouldn’t get a real tree, as they do every year.
The Napolis take Christmas very seriously, Madison said, adding that her mother suggested an artificial tree to troll Joe.

‘Do you know they’re bad for the environment?’ she overheard him say before she pulled out the camera. ‘The whole thing is freaking plastic!’
Joe then walks into the room and heaves a heavy sigh after his wife suggested getting a ‘Glade candle that smells like the tree’.
He then picks up his shoes and looks at Marie to say: ‘I don’t know what’s happened to you and I know I can’t solve it, so I’m just going to let it go.’
Marie, who said she was being ‘playful’ and was ‘teasing’ her husband laughs as he walks away at the end of the clip.
In the end, the family did get a real Christmas tree.

‘He was genuinely passionate about getting a real Christmas tree,’ she said. ‘[My mom] knew it would get under his skin a little bit.’
She added that her parents’ ‘silly’ nature stems from a 25-year marriage and that they were high school sweethearts.
‘I got a lot of comments saying my mom was ‘messed up’ for laughing at the end, but I guess I would like people to understand that my parents have the healthiest marriage I’ve seen,’ she told Buzzfeed News.
Joe said he’s fully aware that Madison shared video of his melodramatic reaction, which has since gone viral.
‘If this little glimpse into my world can keep one home from getting a fake tree, my pain will have been worth it,’ he told BuzzFeed News.
