Fatty Vautin stitches up rugby league megastar Andrew Johns during a roadside breath test and you won’t believe what he asked the cops to do

  • Johns was pulled over by police
  • Was chatting with Vautin at the time
  • Fell victim to a cheeky prank

NRL Immortal Andrew Johns has been stitched up in sensational fashion by his Channel Nine co-commentator Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin during a routine breath test by police.

Johns, 49, was talking with Vautin legally using a wireless device while driving when he was pulled over by police.

That is when Vautin, who was still on the line, pulled off a prank that left Johns and the police in stitches.

‘So I’m talking to Fat. Fat rings me, so I’m on the Bluetooth talking,’ Johns said on Freddy and the Eighth.

‘I get pulled over by the coppers, they got the breathalyzers.

‘So the bloke [the police officer] comes over and says ‘count to seven’.

‘[I said] ‘sorry mate, I’m just …’.

It was then the police officer cottoned on to who Johns was chatting to through the wireless device.

‘Are you talking to Fatty are ya?’ he asked.

‘How ya going Fatty?’

Johns then revealed that his old mate couldn’t resist the chance to stitch him up with the police officers.

‘I said just let me count the breathalyzer [to Vautin],’ Johns said.

‘He goes, ‘don’t worry about breathalyzing, get that thing on his tongue’.

Vautin was referring to saliva drug testing kits used by police officers during roadside testing.

While Johns could see the funny side of Vautin’s joke, the Newcastle legend has a storied history with drug abuse.

In 2009, Johns opened up on his long-term drug and alcohol abuse and his battle with depression.

He admitted to taking ecstasy, even sometimes during the NRL season.

‘At times it was like playing Russian roulette when I took them during the season,’ he said at the time.

‘When we’d play Friday night, we wouldn’t train until Monday. I took them then. Hopefully (the drug) would be gone by Monday.’
