Fears for missing mother-of-three, 30, who vanished from hen do

Fears for missing mother-of-three, 30, after she vanished from a bar during her friend’s hen do in Ireland

  • Ruth Maguire, 30, from County Down went out with her friends on Saturday
  • But when they got back in the rest of the hen party realised she was missing
  • They have been searching since Saturday night and say this is out of character

Fears are growing for a mother-of-three who disappeared in the middle of Saturday evening while out with friends on a hen party.

Ruth Maguire, 30, was one of 32 women on the hen do, but when the women returned to the house in which they were staying after the pub closed they realised she was not with them.

Ms Maguire, from County Down in Northern Ireland, was partying in Carlingford, Co Louth, across the border in the Republic.

By 11.30pm, the whole group had left the bar – Taaffe’s – and were back in the house they had booked for the party, which was less than five minutes walk away, Ruth’s friend Katrina O’Hare told The Sun.

Ruth was not with her friends at 11.30pm after the left Taaffe’s bar in Carlingford and returned to the house they had booked for the weekend

But the women, mainly from Belfast, realised Ruth had not returned with them. They started searching straight away, but to no avail.

An Irish Coastguard helicopter, the Greenore Coastguard, the Belfast Coastguard and Kilkeel Lifeboat joined in a search when it emerged that she had posted a photograph on social media with Carlingford Lough close by.

However, the search operation was suspended last night.

This morning the Garda told MailOnline: ‘Gardaí at Carlingford Co Louth are conducting a search operation along with other agencies in trying to locate a 30 year old female who became separated from her friends.

‘The matter was reported to Gardaí early on Sunday 17th March 2019. Searches were conducted yesterday and have resumed this morning. Investigations are continuing.’

Her friend Colette Delaney wrote on Facebook that Ms Maguire ‘had no coat and it was freezing’, the Belfast Telegraph reported, adding that Ms Delaney was ‘worried sick’.

‘Please God help her be found safe,’ she added.

A doorman heard her say she might make her way home to Newcastle, Co Down, but her partner and children had gone to Belfast. This morning he drove to Newcastle to only to find she had not returned home.

Last night Ruth post a photograph on social media with Carlingford Lough in the background, prompting lifeboat crews to join the search. But today her phone is believed to be off, and her coat was found in the bar today.

Ruth is tall, slim, has blonde hair and was wearing a black T-shirt saying ‘Member of Irish Bride drinking team’ and black jeans.

The hen party arrived in Carlingford on Saturday and are due to leave tomorrow.

Katrina said: ‘This is awful, just awful.’

She has appealed to Ruth to make contact immediately or for anyone who knows her whereabouts to contact the police in Carlingford in Ireland on 00353429373102.
