Fears grow for debt collector mother who went missing while going door-to-door

Tina Cantello, 49, from Basildon, Essex, disappeared yesterday and has not been seen or heard from since

Fears are reportedly growing for a missing mother who vanished while going door-to-door as a debt collector.

Tina Cantello, 49, from Basildon, Essex, disappeared yesterday and has not been seen or heard from since.

Her mobile phone has reportedly been discovered on the side of a road in the town with her daughter’s boyfriend claiming police said it may have been ‘thrown out of a car’.

Tina’s family became concerned after the 49-year-old failed to return home last night.

A cordon has been placed around Durham Road, Basildon, tonight near to where the loan collector’s mobile phone was found.

Tina was on her way to her third and final stop last night when she vanished and was last seen in nearby Deacons Drive.

In a bid to find the missing mother, police have searched the nearby woodland area.

Her vehicle has also not been located – a silver Mini with the registration plate EX61 JLO.

James Taylor, the boyfriend of Tina’s daughter Aimee, said: ‘‘Police are investigating, they found her phone on the side of the road and they think the phone was thrown out of a car.

‘It’s 100 per cent out of character. Tina is a very homely person, [there is] no way would she leave her home,’ he told Essex Live.

James added: ‘There has been a family grievance recently so we’re thinking she may have gone out to clear her head. Tina please come home, your family miss you.’

The last person to see Tina was reportedly her partner Steve and ‘everything was fine’ before she left.

Tina is described as a 4ft 11ins tall, blonde woman, who was last seen wearing a cream blouse with flowers on, blue jeans and gold shoes.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: ‘We are appealing for help to find 49-year-old Tina Cantello who is missing from her Basildon home.

‘Tina was last seen when she left her home in Holst Avenue, Laindon to go to work at 5pm on Friday June 8.

‘She has not been seen since and we are concerned for her.’
