Female drink-driver crashes into woman pushing a pram in Ermington

Female drunk driver, 48, with her kids in the back seat crashes her car into a woman pushing two young children in a pram

  • Crash happened on Monday in Ermington, north west of Sydney, at 8.30am
  • Two-year-old boy and five-year-old girl in the pram suffered minor injuries 
  • Driver returned a breath test reading of 0.09 and she was charged  

A female driver has been arrested after she ploughed her car into a woman pushing two children in a pram while over the drink drive limit and with her two kids in the back seat. 

The crash happened in Ermington, north west of Sydney, just after 8.30am on Monday. 

The 48-year-old woman was driving on William Street when she hit a 55-year-old woman on the side of the roadway while pushing a pram, which was carrying a two-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl.

The girl sustained a large cut to her knee and the boy had swelling to the face. The woman suffered a leg injury and all three were conveyed to Westmead Hospital for treatment.

The driver’s breath test was positive for alcohol and she returned an alleged reading of 0.09.

Her passengers – two children, aged eight and 10 – were not injured.

She was charged with mid-range PCA and her licence has been suspended. She has been bailed to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday November 26 2019.

Investigations are continuing, and police are expecting to lay further charges.

A child-at-risk notification has been submitted to the Department of Family and Community Services.
