A female construction worker claims she was told men on the jobsite find her ‘intimidating’. 

The conversation left employee Kiki, from Toronto, Canada, stunned and in utter disbelief. 

‘I was pulled aside today. Apparently, the guys on the work site are intimidated,’ she wrote in a video on Tiktok. 

‘Me knowing this is ridiculous, just stared until he apologised.’

After sharing her experience on social media, Kiki was met with comments from men who either complimented her looks or women who supported her.

‘You must look good in everything,’ one man wrote, another said: ‘That’s just because you are cuter than they are.’

‘Intimidated!? Why?’ one woman asked.  

Others praised Kiki for being a ‘strong woman’ during a difficult situation. 

‘I bet it was a male boss that said that to you. Just keep being you if your assertive they say you’re aggressive, if you’re not assertive that’s no good,’ one woman wrote.

‘Good for you, stand your ground. Just because you’re a women does not give them the right to push you around,’ another added. 

A third said: ‘Don’t let no one knock you down.’ 

Being a woman working in a male-dominated industry, Kiki shared her other experiences working in construction.

‘When the laborours say.. ‘It must be nice sitting in that warm truck’,’ she wrote in a second video and recorded herself sitting in the work vehicle. 

Kiki also listed her ‘rules’ for other female tradies – which including never flirting with the men you work with and not taking the jokes seriously because ‘you won’t survive’. 

Rule three was ‘work twice as hard as the guys do’ followed by ‘wake up before the sun rises and go to bed after the sun rises’.
