Princess Eugenie has played a starring role in the announcement of her elder sister Beatrice’s engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi – by taking beautiful colour photographs of the couple in Italy.

Eugenie, 29, who wed Jack Brooksbank last year, got behind the lens to take a series of three colourful images of the soon-to-be marrieds, who this morning announced their engagement via an official Buckingham Palace memo.

In a gushing tribute to her older sister, 31, on Instagram, Eugenie revealed her joy at the couple’s big news, saying: ‘Wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be.’

While esteemed photographer Misan Harriman took the official black-and-white photos, Fergie revealed that her younger daughter also had a hand in sharing the happy news by taking the colour photographs of her sister and her groom-to-be herself.

Fergie wrote: ‘@princesseugenie took the colour photographs as my girls are so close. Beatrice and Edo wanted her to capture this special moment.’

The royal added: ‘The black and white photographs were taken by Misan Harriman at Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park. Quote from Misan Harriman: “Everything clicks when they are together and that’s exactly what my lens captured. It was an honour to observe and document such love.’

Buckingham Palace has announced this morning that Princess Beatrice has become engaged to Mr Mapelli Mozzi.

WHERE WILL THE COUPLE WED?

While Beatrice and Edo have yet to share any details about their upcoming wedding, there’s a decent chance that the couple could follow in the footsteps of Eugenie’s parents and  walk down the aisle at Westminster Abbey.

Current odds from bookmaker Ladbrokes suggest that a spring 2020 Westminster Abbey wedding could have odds as low as 2/1.

St George’s Chapel, where Eugenie tied the knot with Jack Brooksbank in October 2018, has odds of 5/1.

The royal started dating the Italian property developer, 34, who is a father-of-one, in October last year.

Sarah Ferguson revealed she’s shed ‘tears of joy’ at the ‘sensational news’ of her eldest daughter’s Beatrice’s engagement to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The couple announced their happy news this morning and the Duchess of York took to social media swiftly to share how the news has left her and ex-husband Prince Andrew feeling like they are the ‘luckiest people ever’.

She wrote: ‘I know what mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great son-in-laws.’

The Duchess of York, a fan of social media, shared six photographs of the young royals in romantic pose, explaining that Eugenie, her youngest daughter had taken the colour photographs 'because the girls are so close'

Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi said in a statement: ‘We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement.

‘We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married.

‘We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.’

Mozzi made his first official public appearance with Beatrice in March at the National Portrait Gallery gala, where they were joined by the Duchess of Cambridge.

Since then, the couple have been spotted together several times.
