Ferrari first official trailer: Adam Driver stars as auto mogul Enzo Ferrari in the highly anticipated biopic with Penelope Cruz as his wife Laura

The trailer for Ferrari was released on Wednesday.

Adam Driver is almost unrecognizable as he vanished into character.

The 38-year-old movie star is playing the auto mogul Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the globally beloved luxury car brand that bears his name.

Adam is playing a white-haired Enzo on the verge of his 60th birthday, the time when he was known as ‘il Grande Vecchio’ – ‘the Great Old Man.’

In his younger years, when he became a pioneering businessman on the make after a career as a race car driver, he was known as ‘il Commendatore’ – ‘the Commander.’

He looks dapper in a perfectly tailored three-piece suit as he stands by a race track.

The man behind the machine: Enzo Ferrari seen in 1982 

The movie sees Enzo grappling with troubles in his personal life as the Mille Miglia – an iconic Italian car race – approaches.

Enzo’s son Dino, who was meant to succeed him as the head of the family business, had died one year earlier of muscular dystrophy 

Entitled simply Ferrari, the movie is written and directed by Michael Man, whose work includes such films as The Last Of The Mohicans, Heat and Public Enemies.

Adam is leading a starry cast that includes Penelope Cruz as Enzo’s wife Laura, to whom he was infamously unfaithful throughout his life.

Shailene Woodley is featuring as Enzo’s longtime mistress Lina Lardi, the mother of his son Piero, who is now vice chairman of Ferrari.

A trio of hunks have been cast as racing drivers – Patrick Dempsey as Piero Taruffi, Gabriel Leone as Alfonso de Portago and Jack O’Connell as Peter Collins.

The movie, which has been filming in Italy since the middle of August, is slated for release sometime in the later part of 2023. 

Adam is no stranger to playing dynastic Italian business magnates, having made a splash last year playing Maurizio Gucci opposite Lady Gaga in House Of Gucci.
