Netted a bargain! Ferrari F430 Spider once owned by football pundit Robbie Savage sells at auction for £54K – £26,000 under its estimate

A Ferrari once owned by ex-footballer and TV pundit Robbie Savage has sold for £26,000 under its estimate at auction.
The BBC and BT Sport commentator’s Italian sports car was expected to fetch £80,000 but was sold for a mere £54,000.
The 48-year-old ex-Wales international bought the Ferrari F430 Spider when he played for Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League in 2006 to celebrate the club qualifying for the UEFA Cup.
He snapped up the 193mph motor, which can go from 0-60mph in 4.1. seconds, for around £100,000. However, Savage went on to break his leg in January 2007, which left him out of action for several months and unable to drive it – and it was sold to a new owner that year.
The Ferrari went on sale at H&H Classics auction at Duxford, Cambridgeshire, with just 26,000 miles on the clock and an MOT with no advisories running until May next year, but failed to secure a top price.

The H&H auction listing read: ‘Comprehensive service history. Formerly the property of Premier League and Welsh International footballer Robbie Savage.’
‘Displacing 4,308cc, its ‘quad cam’, 32-valve V8 was quoted as developing 483bhp and 343lbft of torque.
‘Allied to either manual or F1-style ‘paddle shift’ transmission, both six-speed, it enabled the F430 Spider to sprint from 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds and onto over 193mph.
‘Savage was playing for Blackburn Rovers at the time, his choice of a F430 Spider was echoed by none other than Lionel Messi.’
Savage, now director of football at non-league outfit Macclesfield, has admitted blowing over £500,000 on luxury motors.
The ex-Leicester City and Derby midfielder also had Lamborghinis, Aston Martins and Porsches.
