An extraordinary street brawl broke out outside a Pret a Manger in central London yesterday after a customer tried to film someone apparently trying to break into a neighbouring cafe next door.
The shocking footage was filmed at around 2pm and shows a heavy set man at the door of the cafe at the corner of Mortimer Street.
We then see the man aggressively approach the pedestrian, who appears to be on the phone, gesticulating and shouting ‘who are you?’ at him.
The man kicks his foot out at the attacker before a barrage of punches are thrown in the middle of the street in front of the Fitzrovia branch of Pret a Manger as dozens of pedestrians rush to break up the fight.
Broad daylight: The man can be seen at the door of the derelict cafe where apparently the owner had barricaded himself inside
The eyewitness who filmed the attack, which happened in Fitzrovia, said that the man was bashing in the front door of the yellow cafe seen in the footage with the owner barricading himself inside while the vagrant attacked the shop.
Meanwhile the man seen in the video attempted call the police before the vagrant caught on and followed him before the fight broke out.
Alert: The attacker approaches the man who was calling the police after spotting him trying to gain entry into the cafe. He then kicks his foot him before a barrage of punches are thrown
The eyewitness who filmed the attack said: ‘The belligerent vagrant was initially bashing in the front door of the yellow cafe. The owner had barricaded himself inside while the vagrant attacked the shop.
‘Nearby, the pedestrian in the video was calling the police. The vagrant caught on to this and proceeded to attack the bystander. It was very shocking.
Shocking sight: The fight happened outside a Pret a Manger in Fitzrovia, central London and was watched by dozens of pedestrians
Helping hand: The attacker is then held down by bystanders who saw what was happening until police arrived and took the man away
He then said the altercation ended when the vagrant was on the ground and the police took him away.
Mail Online have contacted the Metropolitan Police for more information.
