Fire breaks out at pub owned by England cricket star Stuart Broad in Nottingham as EIGHT fire engines are called in to tackle the 3am blaze… with no one thought to be inside the building

  • Stuart Broad’s pub in Nottingham caught fire in the early hours of Saturday 
  • The England cricket star co-owns The Tap & Run in Upper Broughton 
  • Eight fire engines were sent to tackle the blaze at 3.22am, with no casualties  

A pub owned by England cricket star Stuart Broad caught fire in the early hours of Saturday morning – with eight firefighters sent in to tackle the blaze. 

The Tap & Run, in Upper Broughton – located between Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire – is co-owned by Broad and Broad and former England team-mate Harry Gurney. 

There is not believed to be any injuries or fatalities, with The Nottingham Post claiming there was not anyone present inside the building at the time of the fire.

The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘The time of call was 3.22 this morning. It’s a public house premises and we have had eight engines in attendance, one aerial ladder platform, water carrier, command support vehicle. 

‘It was a building of two floors, 15 metres by 30 metres, the area of the building. The fire was in the first floor and roof. They have used two main jets and then two hose reel jets.’ 

The fire service also warned members of the public to stay away from the area, adding: ‘We ask you to please avoid the area if possible and for local residents to keep their doors and windows closed if affected by the smoke.’

Images of the fire on social media show the roof severely damage with smoke pouring out of the top of the building. 

Another video shows firefighters using a huge crane to spray water from a great height in order to extinguish the flames. 

A huge chunk of the roof appears to have caved in from two sections of the property as a result of the blaze with a giant plume of smoke shooting out.

Broad is currently with the England cricket team at Trent Bridge in Nottingham this week, with Ben Stokes’ side currently playing in a five-day test against the Kiwi side.  

Broad and Gurney opened the pub back in 2016, with the help of close friend Dan Cramp – back then known as The Golden Fleece. It was closed for two years before Broad and Gurney took it on and they renamed up the Tap & Run in 2018.

The pair also own another pub called The Three Crowns in Wymeswold, Loughborough, in 2016.
