A gas cylinder explosion is believed to have started the fire at the October Hostel and Restio about 9pm on Tuesday and two people are injured, according to The Phuket News.

A witness named Carla told the Sydney Morning Herald she saw five hotels and hostels on fire, and the flames were ‘spreading like wildfire’.
She said there were ‘lots of Australian travellers’ on the island and she saw people being carried around suffering from burns.
Firefighters at the scene have sealed off the area as surrounding buildings have collapsed.
