Firefighters were stunned when they rescued a mouse from the flames as fire ripped through a grassland.

The firefighters were called to Hodgehill, Birmingham at 2.45pm today, which was the hottest day of the year.

The fire covered a small 15 meter by 5 meter area and was developing quickly when the firefighters discovered the field mouse who against the odds was alive.
