Firefighters save eight cute ducklings from drain

  • Eight little ducklings were saved by a firefighter at the Gold Coast this month
  • The tiny quackers were stuck in a storm water drain but were soon scooped out
  • Locals took the ducklings to a safer spot at a nearby waterway with their parents

Whether they are saving a cat from a tree or ducklings from a drain, it’s all in a days work for a firefighter.

Eight little ducklings made for a very cute rescue after a group of neighbours and firefighters helped save the curious swimmers.

The tiny quackers were found in a Gold Coast drain but with the help of some pool scoop nets, they weren’t down there long.

With the help of some concerned neighbours, the Robina firefighters scooped the ducklings into a laundry basket.

The cute rescue was captured on camera with a crowd of onlookers, including a number of intrigued children, eagerly watching on.

‘It’s not all what it’s quacked up to be,’ one person can be heard saying.

The little duckling’s parents weren’t far away, following closely behind as they were carried in a laundry basket.

‘We like doing community service like this and with good outcomes everybody’s happy,’ firefighter Graeme Stoner told Nine News.

The duck family were released in a safer spot at a nearby waterway, bringing smiles to locals faces.
