A brand new ITV competition will see 14 West End hopefuls battle it out for leading roles in Mamma Mia.

In a first look images, released on Friday, talent show host Zoe Ball will be joined by judges Alan Carr, Jessie Ware, Samantha Barks and Amber Riley.

The show will see some of the nation’s most talented musical theatre actors head off to Greece in hopes of becoming the next Sophie and Sky.

Each week the contestants will be put through their paces and tested on everything from singing and dancing, to acting and chemistry.

But who will survive the eliminations and make it through to the live final, where the Great British public will decide who wins the role of Sophie and Sky in the West End?

A trailer shows Zoe welcoming the group to the villa as she says: ‘You’re going to be singing and dancing all over the Island.’

The budding West End stars are then seen performing a steamy dance routine in front of the judges, that leaves Alan speechless.

The winners of the show will go on to star in the 25th-anniversary production at the iconic Novello Theatre in 2024.

The programme will be of a similar format to previous BBC shows Any Dream Will Do and How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, both based on musicals by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

They saw amateur performers competing for places in the big-stage, revival productions.

Earlier this year it was reported that Zoe, the highest-paid woman at the BBC, already earns almost £1 million per year.

But now the former Strictly star is waltzing her way to another payday after agreeing to host the new show on ITV.

The Mail on Sunday can reveal staff at the BBC are ‘indignant’ that she is allowed to work for another broadcaster despite being a full-time employee as host of the Radio 2 breakfast show on weekday mornings.

Zoe will be presenting Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream, which will be screened on Saturday nights later this year. The deal will increase her annual income by about £200,000.

In 2021, Ms Ball voluntarily took a £380,000 pay cut to remain as host of the Radio 2 breakfast show for an additional two years. A BBC spokesperson said the star felt it was inappropriate to earn so much in the middle of a pandemic.

However, the deal for her job on the UK’s most popular radio programme – which reaches 7.1 million listeners a week – was still worth a hefty £980,000.

MAMMA MIA! I Have a Dream will be coming soon so ITV1, STV and ITVX
