A fisherman had a nasty shock after reeling in a massive crocodile.

The man was on a charter in Wiepa, Northern Queensland, when he hooked the monster catch earlier this month.

It emerged that the cold-blooded croc had eaten a fish that was caught on the end of the man’s line.

The footage shows the fisherman struggling to hold the line before the giant reptile appears.

‘This was one catch we were happy to let go,’ the video was captioned.

The animal continued to swim around the boat before the fishermen eventually released it from the line.

Earlier this month a group of tourists feared for their lives after their car was surrounded by 30 crocodiles in the Northern Territory.

A river had flooded the road forcing the tourists to stop and wait for the mass of saltwater crocs to pass.

Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife urged everyone to be ‘croc wise’ at the start of spring after a huge four and a half metre crocodile was caught near the popular town of Katherine.

‘The weather in the Top End is heating up… and that means crocs are on the move!’ they wrote in a Facebook post.
