Fitness influencer performs CPR on two-year-old son after drowning two days before Christmas

Horrifying moment fitness influencer Chontel Duncan’s son, two, nearly drowns in their backyard swimming pool – as she rushes to perform CPR

A Brisbane fitness influencer has been left shaken after her two-year-old son almost drowned in their backyard swimming pool before Christmas.

Mother-of-five Chontel Duncan took to Instagram on Monday urging her 1million followers to check their pool gates and stay up-to-date with their first aid and CPR training.

The 32-year-old revealed that on December 23 her son Paris managed to enter the pool after the gate failed to close, and was submerged in the water 1 minute and 20 seconds while trying to swim.

‘I found him at the bottom of the pool and jumped in. Someone was watching over us and by miracle, he survived and is ok,’ Chontel explained.

Chontel then revealed this wasn’t the first time she’s had to revive one of her children.

Back in February she was forced to perform CPR on her daughter Havana, who was born prematurely a month prior.

She however did not detail the circumstances surrounding this incident.

‘I performed CPR on Havana on the 18th of Feb 2022 & then this. The pain is unbearable, and the fear can be debilitating, but if there is one thing 2022 has taught [my husband] Sam and me, it is to live in the present, not to dwell & to appreciate life,’ she wrote.

‘Christmas this year hit differently; we bang on about family time during this season, but take this as a big reminder to TRULY appreciate life and those in it & be present.’

Chontel accompanied her post with photos of her family spending time together over the Christmas holiday.

It comes after Chontel welcomed twins Havana and Justice on January 5 at just 31 weeks, after facing the ‘exhausting fear’ of a ‘threatened miscarriage’ during the pregnancy.

Chontel and her high school sweetheart Sam are now the proud parents of five young children all under the age of seven.
