One of America’s top fitness trainers has opened the doors to his jaw-dropping $2.5 million New York apartment, with viewers deeming it ‘dope’ and a ‘dream place.’
Akin Akman, 36, welcomed content creator Caleb Simpson into his home in Manhattan’s East Village for his popular series exploring interesting spaces across America, which he has dubbed ‘this generation’s MTV Cribs.’
Immediately on walking into the penthouse apartment Caleb seems gobsmacked by the lofty space, exclaiming: ‘What the f***!.’
Akin – who made his name as a star Soul Cycle instructor and has since become known for his sweat-inducing group cycling classes and AARMY fitness brand – then proceeds to show him around, starting with the kitchen, which has so much storage space high up, he has to use a ladder on rails to move from cabinet to cabinet.

Commenting on Akin’s minimalist aesthetic, TikToker Caleb say: ‘I’m feeling a black and white vibe here, like a Superman lair.’
Returning to the living room and dining area, Akin reveals to Caleb his love of gardening.
He explains, as he showcases various specimens: ‘I got really into plants but this one didn’t make it… birds of paradise, lavender, rosemary.’
Next up, Akin reveals how there is a secret door in his floor-to-ceiling bookcase in the sun-drenched living room which opens out into an office-cum-bedroom space.
The fitness enthusiast, who is also signed by IMG Models, says as he shows the desk area, bed and one of his paintings: ‘I work in here, and then I also paint. My brother does not like it.’
As the duo wander back through the living room, Akin points to one of the long couches and describes it as his ‘recovery corner’.
On the soft surface is a pair of Normatec compression boots which are designed to aid athletes’ recovery. They generally retail for around $800.
One of the last indoor areas the pair explore is Akin’s bedroom.

The images show how much he has transformed the space, with a bland white color scheme and outdated cabinets in the bathroom and kitchen before his purchase.
According to property records, the gym star bought it for $2.59 million in August 2019, after a price decrease of around 7 per cent from when it was originally listed.

While Akin has carved an impressive name for himself in the world of fitness after starting tennis lessons at the age of seven, there have been some ups and downs along the way.
The American was previously accused by a former SoulCycle employee of fat-shaming.
Lauren Zuckerman, who worked on the front desk and as a key holder at the Tribeca studio, said she was slammed by Akin for eating pizza.
‘He put me on his Instagram story, and he said something like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I just walked into SoulCycle – don’t do this. This is not SoulCycle,” Zuckerman told Insider.
Despite the criticism, Akin has built a firm following with his clients ranging from David and Victoria Beckham to Karlie Kloss.
On TikTok and Instagram, where he posts regular workout videos advertising his own fitness brand, he boasts more than 1.7 million followers collectively.
